Why Dance Competitively for DCDC 

Competitive dance gives interested dancers an expanded offering in addition to our studio classes. We are one team that motivates and encourages each other. Students absorb positive performance critiques, adapt, and improve throughout the season. Dancers work hard, are intently focused, and share a true passion for dance. The reward is often not just the trophy in the end, but the empowerment they feel as a result of facing challenges and overcoming obstacles. Competition company dancers go to public events, work with dance professionals, and perform in front of world-renowned judges. The expectation of our competition company students is they model excellent sportsmanship both in and outside of the studio. The qualities and skills dancers take away from being a competitive dancer serve them well when they move beyond our studio and out into the real world.

Class Requirements 

Competition Company students are required to take Ballet, Jazz, Technique, and 1 additional class in a style of their choosing. Students are also required to attend our week long Summer Intensive and Company Workshop.

Auditions 

Auditions are held annually, typically in April/May for the following season. Every student must audition for team placement and consideration. 

 

Events

The DCDC Competition Company attends the following events throughout the season:

• 2-3 community performances

• 3-4 conventions

• 3-4 competitions

• Spring Showcase

• Nationals (every other summer)
