our policies
DCDC has a dedicated and professional staff that is excited to have the opportunity to take part in the growth and development of each student. Parents, it is our hope that by enrolling your child in DCDC, you intend to have an active role in encouraging a positive attitude while supporting our teachers’ decisions which are made in the best interest of each dancer. Please carefully review the following policies and procedures with your dancer prior to signing and returning.
STUDIO RULES AND PROCEDURES
All dancers must wear cover up/warm ups over their dancewear when entering and exiting the studio.
Dance shoes should not be worn outside of the building.
No gum, food or beverages inside the studio space.
Street shoes are not permitted in the studio space.
Students should arrive 5 minute prior to the start of their class. If they will be late, a parent must notify the center.
Please inform the center via email or phone call should your child be absent from class. It is important to keep absence at a minimum.
Please do not leave children unattended in the lobby area.
Young dancers must be escorted into the studio and picked up from inside the center… they will not be allowed to leave the studio without a parent.
No smoking on premises.
If an adult other than a parent is picking up, please submit written permission to the center prior.
In the case of inclement weather, the studio will inform parents of closing via email and website. Closure decisions will weigh on Great Valley School District.
CLASS RULES AND PROCEDURES
All dancers must leave the events of their day at the door of the studio. Positive attitude, encouraging speech, and a smile are a requirement for class participation.
Mobile phone usage is not permitted by students during the duration of class time. This includes during class/water breaks.
Appropriate attire and compliance with all elements of the dress code policy is required for all classes. Students who fail to comply with dress code will be asked to leave class.
Lateness is discouraged. Please call the center if your dancer will be late.
Students are encouraged to bring a bottle of water to each class. Water bottles are to be kept in cubbies outside of the studio space.
Frequent class disruptions by any student can result in said student’s dismissal from class. Returning to class will be contingent on a conference with both parents and student present.
Please keep our studio space clean. Take home all clothing and shoes each day. Throw away all trash. Treat the center as your second home ☺
DRUG, ALCOHOL, SOCIAL MEDIA POLICY
There is a No Drug policy for all dancers.
There is a No Alcohol policy for all dancers under the age of 21.
Students are asked to be vigilant of the activity they display on social media sites and the internet. DCDC expects its students to respect their worth and the self-image they put out into the world.
​Violations of the above could result in dismissal from the studio or removal from performance opportunities for the remainder of the season.
GENERAL POLICIES
The center reserves the right to provide a substitute teacher if the regularly scheduled teacher is ill or otherwise unable to teach classes. If a substitute is not available, the class may be cancelled and the teacher will offer a make- up class.
Director and teachers will not be available before, during or after scheduled class times to discuss questions or concerns. If there is a business matter that needs to be addressed, a parent must call to schedule an appointment.
Class placement is determined at the time of registration based on the student’s age and experience. Instructors will evaluate students during the first few weeks of class to assure proper placement. Dance students should expect to stay in beginner dance levels for an average of two years. The progress of each student is monitored by instructors and level recommendations for the following season will be made in the spring.
Desiree Catania Dance Center may use photographs and videos taken of you/your child at the studio, recital, or competitions for promotional and marketing purposes.
​All classes are paid for even when missed. Any class missed due to an illness or inclement weather may be made-up on another day. You are more than welcome to bring your child to a make-up class anytime throughout the year.
